Genesis

Kendriya Vidyalaya Barpeta, a civil sector school under the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, was established in 2003 to meet the educational needs of children of transferable Central Government employees in Barpeta, Assam. It began functioning on 1st April 2003 with classes I to V in a temporary building, starting with around 200 students.

Over the years, the Vidyalaya grew steadily in strength and infrastructure. It was gradually upgraded and introduced higher classes, reaching senior secondary level with the Science stream in the 2010-11 session. Affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the school has since expanded its academic offerings.

In 2023, KV Barpeta shifted to its own newly constructed permanent building located at Krishna Nagar, near Barpeta College in Barpeta town. Today, it stands as a prominent educational institution in the region, continuing to provide quality education and holistic development to its students under the PM SHRI scheme.
